How We Use Virtual Reality
We leverage technology to bring the joy of travel to hospital-bound patients who cannot explore the world physically.
Being confined to a hospital room can be isolating and mentally challenging for patients and their families. To alleviate this, Sun Rae Foundation provides VR headsets loaded with immersive travel experiences, from strolling through Parisian streets to snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef. These virtual adventures transport patients to different corners of the globe, allowing them to escape their medical confines temporarily. The experience is meant to foster hope, reduce anxiety, and enhance the overall well-being of patients, helping them find solace and inspiration during challenging times.
The system also has live streaming capabilities. Allowing patients to take part in events such as graduations, birthday parties, weddings, and other important family gatherings
ABOUT
Started in 2018 and inspired by our ray of sunshine, Olivia Rae, the Sun Rae Foundation supports pediatric patients on extended hospital admissions.
Even with exceptional care in a supremely supportive environment, an extended hospital admission can produce ever increasing stress, fatigue, and frustration. Groups within the hospital such as Child Life Services at Nemours do a wonderful job engaging with families and activating minds. Our goal is to support groups such as Child Life, filling in gaps with our time, experiences, meals, games, activities, apps, and more.

What's New
Our most recent activity was the donation of special crib mobiles to the Nemours Cardiac Center. The mobiles are completely cleanable, provide white noise and stimulation, and even record and play families' voices when they can't be in the room.
